Travelers explore the tea gardens of Darjeeling, the scenic valleys of Gangtok, and then cross into Bhutan via Phuentsholing. Highlights include the vibrant capital Thimphu, the sacred monasteries of Bumthang, the historic fortress of Punakha, and the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery in Paro. The tour blends breathtaking landscapes, rich Buddhist heritage, and authentic local experiences, ending back in Kolkata for onward travel.

Arrive in Kolkata and assemble outside the airport before beginning a panoramic city tour from the coach. Reach the hotel for early lunch and check‑in. After wash and change, depart for a half‑day sightseeing tour including St. Paul’s Cathedral Church, the sacred Kalighat Temple, the iconic Victoria Memorial (closed on Mondays and national holidays), and the Mother House (closed on Thursdays and national holidays). Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Bagdogra with light lunch on board. On arrival, meet and assist before driving to Darjeeling. Nestled in the Himalayas at 2134m, Darjeeling—known as the “Queen of the Hills”—offers stunning views of the Kanchendzonga, charming villages, waterfalls, tea gardens, and its famous narrow‑gauge railway. As Graeme Westlake described, it presents “a view scarcely unrivalled on Earth.” Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Begin the day with an early morning excursion to Tiger Hill to witness the majestic sunrise over the Himalayan range, where peaks like Kanchendzonga and even Mount Everest glow golden as the horizon changes colors. Return to the hotel for breakfast before enjoying a nostalgic toy train ride up to Ghoom, followed by a visit to the historic Ghoom Monastery, home to a 15‑foot statue of Maitreya Buddha. In the afternoon, proceed for a city tour including the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (closed on Thursdays), where exhibits highlight Tenzing Norgay’s Everest climb and Himalayan wildlife such as snow leopards and Tibetan wolves. Continue to the Tibetan Self‑Help Centre (closed on Sundays), run by Tibetan refugees to preserve traditional handicrafts like carpets, leatherwork, paintings, and woodwork. Upon arrival, visit the Do Drul Chorten, commemorating the victory of good over evil, along with the nearby Jhang Chub Chorten and statues of Lord Buddha and Guru Padmasambhava. Continue to the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, which houses one of the world’s largest collections of rare manuscripts on Mahayana Buddhism and offers traditional art and crafts. End the day at the Enchey Monastery, perched on a ridge above town, built in 1910 on the site of Lama Drutob Karpo’s hermitage, and home to monks of the Nyingmapa Order. If time permits, visit Zangtho Pelri, a small temple in the city centre representing the heaven of Guru Rinpoche. After breakfast, drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital city, famously known as the world’s only capital without traffic lights. On arrival, check in at the hotel before heading out in the afternoon to visit the National Memorial Chorten. Continue to Trashichhoedzong, the historic fortress that houses the monarch’s throne room and the seat of the Chief Abbot. End the day at Ka Ja Throm, a vibrant market quarter showcasing handicrafts, farm products, and local cuisine in a lively setting. Drive to Bumthang via scenic mountain passes. Stop at Dochu‑la Pass with its 108 chortens and panoramic Himalayan views, then continue across Pelela Pass and visit the Chendbji Chorten. Pause in Trongsa for lunch and explore the historic Trongsa Dzong, ancestral seat of Bhutan’s royal family. The journey ascends the Yutong‑la Pass before descending into the fertile Chumey Valley, known for its crops and traditional wool weaving called Bumthang Yathra. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Bumthang.

Spend the day exploring Bumthang, a district of four fertile valleys rich in temples, monasteries, and cultural heritage. In the morning, attend the vibrant Tshechu Festival, where monks and laymen perform sacred mask dances honoring Guru Padmasambhava, and locals gather in traditional attire for celebration. Later, visit the scenic Jakar Dzong, known as the “castle of the white bird,” overlooking Choekhor Valley. Continue to the Bumthang Brewery and Cheese Factory to see the brewing and cheese‑making process, taste the famous Red Panda Beer, and sample local products like apple brandy and honey. Conclude the day with an evening stroll through the village markets before dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Bumthang.

After breakfast, drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan and winter residence of the Chief Abbot. The fertile valley, nourished by the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, is known for abundant crops and fruits. En route, optionally visit Wangduephodrang Dzong(Optional) , a historic fortress restored to its grandeur after fire damage. On arrival in Punakha, check in at the hotel, enjoy leisure time in the evening, followed by dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, visit the majestic Punakha Dzong, the “Palace of Great Happiness,” followed by a walk across the Punakha Suspension Bridge with its fluttering prayer flags and valley views. Drive to Paro, stopping at Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery, home to impressive statues and a meditation center for nuns. On arrival, check in at the hotel and explore Paro Valley, known for its rich culture, fertile fields, and views of Mount Chomolhari. Time permitting, visit Rinpung Dzong, with its historic courtyards and Buddhist wall paintings. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Paro.

After breakfast, set out on a hike to the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktshang Lhakhang), perched dramatically on a cliff high above Paro Valley. Revered as one of Bhutan’s most sacred sites, it is believed Guru Rinpoche meditated here after arriving on the back of a tigress, giving the monastery its name. The hike offers stunning views and a deep spiritual atmosphere, making it a highlight of any Bhutan journey.
Later, visit a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse, where you can experience warm hospitality, taste authentic local cuisine, and learn about rural life. Guests may also try their hand at archery, Bhutan’s national sport, using traditional bamboo bows and arrows.
End the day with the option of a hot stone bath, a traditional healing ritual where river stones are heated and immersed in herbal water, offering relaxation and cultural immersion. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Paro.
